Also please don't discuss ongoing games. Discussing subbing out of ongoing games is part of discussing ongoing games. tyvm :)

I was in a game that was, in practice, won in the first post. I was Night Killed before making a post, too.

The game was 5 pages long, and it was a large theme.

FWIW:
In post 197, Nauci wrote:I think I'm going to take the next day or so to do a complete re-read and evaluation of the game with knowledge of the replacements' posts in mind.

My gut still says teacher though so I'll park here for now.

VOTE: teacher
I considered this a pretty clear "oh look I don't actually care who's getting lynched and am perfectly happy dumping my vote somewhere it doesn't matter and making no waves at all on the runaway james mislynch" sort of thing
I might look through the various votes if I have more time, but I considered this a really sketchy looking vote at the time and was very surprised that Nauci wasn't a major wagon d2 *shrugs*
I'll say that, in fairness, it's harder to evaluate someone who has legitimate RL reasons to be less active... but what she was doing with the time she had imo deserved far more scrutiny.

In one game I subbed in at night as bodyguard (oddly enough, I subbed in for thor), saved the outed vig, and then watched as town imploded in pretty awful fashion. It was a terrible setup but still, that was way more of a "how things go for smith" type of thing than the game I won without ever needing to even post :P

My reads certainly weren't great, but this town could also have done with better town telling.

-Meji, though he had great reads, never bothered to explain any of them, and ended the day believing the team was me + quick. What about that should have made me reevaluate?

-Flicker waffled and fence sat the entire game. I should have eventually reevaluated this when it never stopped. This one is def my bad.

-Thor refused to reevaluate on James, who I read correctly. He strongly town read elephant, which strengthened my read on flicker because I figured thor would get at least one read right. And then he made a hard switch from a town read on me to a scum read on me based on a tracker claim that didn't have to exist and the same dubious wagon analysis that he had chided me for in D1.

-NK15 hard town read teacher and then jailed him. This can't have been the optimal play to take away the tracker result when you know that you're going to be NK'd, AND you make it clear that you're town reading the tracker claim.

-teacher I read correctly until I reevaluated after NK15 jailed him. Also, that push on thor, while obviously having a town origin (and i was town reading teacher after that) was also consistent with scum. Additionally, thor was scum reading teacher, and teacher seemed like the type of person who would kill off experience.

Nauci slot: ya'll got me, what can I say. I read her d1 town.

elephant slot: the only decent case made on elephant was made by teacher, and it took as part of it's premise that irrelephant AND I were scum together pushing his mislynch. How can that be compelling to my slot?

so yeah, my reads sucked. I'm not sure what specifically should have caused me to reevaluate.

Okay I don't have time to catch up on new posts yet but I'd just like to say the following:

-Supee sorry for lurking out. I legit was obsessed with fulling catching up before posting and was up to a 1400 word notes doc before I realized I ran out of time. Probably for the best though because I've been SO BUSY. Turns out it's easier to mafia while sick.

-I'M SORRY FOR BEING A BASTARD pls don't read the scum PT (but I apologize now for what lies ahead)

-Teacher you had some pretty wild theories and at some point it felt like you were rolling a d6 to determine your FOS of the day, but you actually played really well and I was quite worried about you for a long time

-everyone else did really well too. I thought Flicker was suuuuuuper towny 95% of the time and can't believe the lunch happened

Accidentally hit submit on mobile while trying to correct the lunch typo -_- One last thing!

-ALL HAIL IRRELEPHANT

Bud I'm suuuuuuper sorry for bailing on you. YOU ARE TERRIFYINGLY GOOD AND TRYHARD and I will be pushing to policy lynch you from now on out of mortal fear. Seriously. Amazing play. You made better calls than any of the rest of us, and thanks for playing along with our ridiculous no-kill gamble.

also for amusement sake...
In post 101, Nauci wrote:Irrelephant is suuuuuuch a good player

Idc which alignment I am, the next game I get him I'm pushing for a d1 lynch out of paranoia
this was basically a dead thread "I'm scum with Irrelephant" claim, since if Irrelephant was such a good townie, then why would
1) nauci be paranoid of him in the future
2) why would he have been playing well to begin with (since town as a whole really wasn't playing well)

Hahaha

Just about everyone this game is formidable

Though, this many tryhards in one game really makes catching up take eons

Side note: my lurking really was totally real, but it worked out super well for my slot. I would likely have been scumread more for the posts I may have made than the lurking. Y'all should push lurkers more, IMO. The one time I actively lurked was when I debated unvoting Thor and dumping my catch-up-through-post-#X schpiel, but decided that I would probably not be pressured all that much for lurk lynching that slot w/o providing one spec of analysis, and could drop my catch up on day 3.

Also, even if Irrelephant and I were both town, I'd still be paranoid. Well spoken, nice, tryhard, great active strategic contributions, extreme towniness, and the politeness just added to that.

Funny enough, with what time I had available on d1, I actually played my normal town game and pretended I was town. Teacher was legitimately my biggest SR (50/50 scum/PR though) if I were a VT, up until I became positive he was a PR.

Yeah but if you were a townie who thought he was town, the natural thought process be more "wow he's playing great despite the game state, I should engage with him better next time, and I wonder if he'd be good at scum" as opposed to just being like "oh crap he's super awesome at scum ima gonna be super paranoid of him next time"

I won a game once where the last scum self-hammered before I made my first in-game post. That was pretty amusing tbh.
Well, I also won before the mod (you) was able to update me in the OP ;)

We lynched BodyGuard Thor d1 in our game just before this, even though he had spent the entire day basically flashing I'M THE BODYGUARD neon lights. At least I vigged a scum n1.

If I were town I would have been extremely paranoid about Irrelephant for being so extremely town read so quickly, while not knowing if he was scum or not. There was no hard reason to take him as far off of the lynch candidate list as he was, and if I were town I would have shouted that down.

Yeah everyone's townread number 1(except teacher);(and this includes the IC Thor) was
scum
; that was bad.
Dunno what we should have done to see
that...
.
With no nightkill Night 1 and a power role Nightkill Night 2 there was no whyarentyoudead WIFOM either.

Lesson learned at least wait a bit more before claiming JK even if you are under fire.

I'd like to see the thoughts of the IC about this result here.

Why would you think it would?

Yeah the no kill n1 only worked because Irrelephant was mysteriously suuuuuuper town read

Though I think we could have won by killing teacher as well, since he gave away his PR almost immediately

I'm of the opinion that protective role PRs shouldn't claim unless absolutely necessary, and if possible, do a round of hypothetical claims instead. Everyone takes a turn saying "If I'm the PR I'm role X and I did Y on n1 and the result was Z" so when flips happen we get a lot of info w/o giving away the protective role outright.

I'd say that in a newbie game, claiming "no result" was pretty decriminating.

Wowowowow thanks for all the compliments (intentional or otherwise)! I worked very hard to stay townread and was paranoid it would all come crashing down with some circumstantial thing but I’m proud of my first game for sure.

Nauci, brass, and quick you were all v fun partners.

Oxy and teacher I had so much fun going in circles with you d3, sorry about it all.

Sorry I’m advance for how arrogant I come across in scum thread - you all made me feel real good by setting me up on a towny pedestal. It went to my head a little.

Meji (had it right from the start) and Flicker (the only one to say the scumteam) are the real time mvps.

So fun!

Also agree with those who say Flicker shouldn’t really have been the mislynch. Teacher just *refused* to go down without the fight of his life, Oxy was the only one townreading my partner slot, and everyone had someone they wanted dead before meji.

Some highlights from my POV: a townbloc being organized around me, the incidental chance that both PRs targeted Thor, and getting townread by each killed townie in their last words. I would love to play again with any/all of you!
