I'd rather lynch scum. I don't know if Elvis would make any vanillas or not. I won't be joining the cropcircles bandwagon today and if he turns out to be scum, I will be v. surprised.

Yes, my defense of cropcircles is noted. (For those of you that like to note those kind of things)

Just for an alternative: I still don't trust PJ at all and think he's scum, however Nazgul is scummy as well and being overlooked (mostly) for some reason. Therefore
unvote;vote Nazgul

If you want an argument about misquoting, please read Newbie Game #166. I would much rather not have another one of those.

That particular post was for the humor I saw in your actions: I never said it was suspicious or worthy of a vote. Did you note how I didn't go back to voting you at the end of that post?

The situation which I thought was funny was laid out perfectly:

Premises:

-You say that I (PetroleumJelly) am scum
-You reaffirm that I (PetroleumJelly) am scum
-You tell us that you would rather lynch scum than a random townie

Conclusion:

-You vote for Nazgul

I was pointing out that if the above were a logical argument, taken from your three premises, your conclusion would be to vote for me, PetroleumJelly. I found it funny that you voted for Nazgul instead.

Capiche?

Although your overreaction is noted. You said that Nazgul was "scummy", but not scum, as you had called me. Unless you think Nazgul is "scummier than scum", I don't think your actions coincide with your words.

I said I'd rather lynch scum.

I think Nazgul is scummy although I do believe you're scummier.
Nazgul had 2 votes on him at the time and you had 2, mine and cropcircles. Therefore, by moving my vote, I put someone I suspect to be scum closer to a lynch. I am STILL voting for someone I find suspicious and NOT voting for someone I don't (cropcircles). It doesn't contradict, although you're trying to twist it and make it sound like it does.

Wait wait. Have I overreacted enough yet?

You only "overreacted" because I didn't think there was anything to react
to
.

What I quoted was just something I found funny, and yet you responded to it. I never called it (your voting for Nazgul over me) suspicious or hinted that I thought it was contradictory: I understood what you were doing (trying to seek scum by voting multiple persons to seek out reactions), but I was pointing out that the wording which
preceded
your vote was amusing to me. If you've ever taken a Logic course, certainly you would understand why I thought your manner of voting Nazgul was slightly humorous, considering your past precedent of calling me scum.

The fact is, I was neither misrepresenting you nor twisting your words. You
have
directly said, twice in fact, that I am scum. You
have
said that you would rather lynch scum over a random townie. You
have
said that you found Nazgul scummy, but me scummier. And you
did
vote for Nazgul instead of keeping your vote on me. I never said that you could not justifiably vote for Nazgul: I was simply saying that given those three premises, the logical conclusion would be to vote for me. That is neither misrepresenation, nor twisting your words.

On a non-game related note, I think sometimes people play Mafia so much that any attack on them must somehow be a misrepresenation or a twisting of words. The same thing goes with throwing out the "WIFOM" line, as such an argument is becoming weaker since it being used to often and so readily. I think people ought to reserve such accusations for when the situation actually calls for using them.

To sum up: your voting for Nazgul was neither suspicious nor contradictory, and I never said it was either. I just thought it was funny. Your reaction to my post and subsequent explanation, however, is notable.

Uh... what? Cropcircles, considering the first few pages were pretty much one-liners, what exactly do you find wrong with a bit of analysis? And what do you hope to achieve by voting for yourself?

Further, you just put yourself one away from a lynch, and it's not like your claim was stellar: I'm sure I'm not the only person who is willing to lynch a suspicious claimed townie on D1 here (not that I have the power to lynch today, but the point stands). If you are pro-town, that was a very unwise thing to do: it takes only one more vote to lay down the hammah.

Non-Game related note: This seems like one of those days where I'm going to have songs stuck in my head playing over and over. Today's features are "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart and "Don't You Need Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane. I seriously need to buy some new CDs.

I think PJ's picking on Ibaesha's word choice (and doing a poor job, at that). While I don't think it's necessarily scummy to do so, I do think he misrepresented her in this case. Ibby's reasoning makes sense to me, as the first thing I thought as I was reading PJ's argument was "But keeping her vote on PJ isn't getting anybody closer to a lynch. At least Nazgul has two votes on him" -- which is basically what Ibby tried to explain to PJ. Nevertheless, I also think that she overreacted to a certain extent.

I found that exchange to be quite interesting. I don't think it's enough to act on right now, but I'm going to file it away for future reference.

Also, Cropcircles: Don't be dumb. Please unvote yourself. "Sacrificing" oneself for the sake of game expediency irritates me very much.

Quality analysis is fine. Great even.

Going back and forth restating what you already stated is pointless. Especially when what you are saying is "I was joking." All the extra paragraphs just drown out the message and derail the game.
