How unexpected.

To be honest, I really didn't think about what would happen overnight. My part in this play was to listen to Glork. Protecting him was the obvious best choice. After all, I was expected to.

I didn't bother thinking about what Glork would do. Random, not random, that was his role choice, not mine (though I think I've pointed out that going random isn't the optimal choice, even with a weighted system).

As for the setup, the only thing I don't like about the Smalltown setup is that there is still a difference in role power. Some roles are bound to die first night. A Day start may be a better idea.

I'm still a fan of all Smalltown setups and you'll be seeing me in the next one.

The type of Bus Driver I was was deceptively powerful, and I shudder to think what would have happened had it been in the hands of a scumbag.

Man, catching VitR the way I did was a *REALLY* lucky pull. That could very easily have been a mislynch. I would
not
have expected Kelly to protect N0 regardless of her alignment.

I pretty much pegged Thesp, though. I guess I'm pretty happy about that. :)

Stoof, do you mind sharing your reasoning behind targeting yourself overnight?

I really liked the format, I would definitely play in another one.

Yay Town! I just wish I had been alive to see it.

The lesson learned here. Read over what I am typing before actually posting it to avoid problems like Glork and I had.

I liked this game, despite how difficult it became. I decided Stoofer was scum, but I pretty much knew he wouldn't be lynched, and that's why I switched to DoS so easily.

But seriously, bravo Glork. You played fucking BRILLIANTLY.

I'm just going to point out that the SK still needs the right role to get a realistic chance of winning. Other than that, the Smalltown setup works fine.

You know, a few weeks ago I started watching the third season of Scrubs on DVD. Since then, every time I see the Janitor, it was all I can do to stop myself from crying out "But how am I going to get him killed?!?!"

I decided on my strategy, to shoot at myself, about half-way through the last day. I decided that Glork was unlikely to switch himself -- Zindaras would protect him, and the scum wouldn't target him again after what happened to Thesp. But I couldn't target him because (a) he would get Zindaras' protection, and (b) in an endgame of Stoofer/PBuG/Zindaras, I would be the one lynched.

I also realised that in an endgame of Stoofer/Glork/(PBug or Zindaras), again, I would be lynched. So I had to do something to clear myself. Something radical.

If Glork didn't target himself, then there was a 67% chance he would target me. That meant that if I shot at someone else, I had a 33% chance of dying; while if I shot at myself -- same odds. But if I shot at myself and got switched, that could really screw the Town -- and make me look innocent.

I thought Glork would most likely switch me and PBuG. Then PBuG would die and Glork would say: "The scum must have targeted Stoofer last night;
vote: Zindaras
." It would also have worked if he had switched me and PBuG. I figured that I was going to lose in any other case, so I had nothing to lose by shooting at myself.

I decided all this before Glork's complicated plan as to whom he would switch. I didn't really understand it so I just went ahead with my own plan anyway.

Just read Glork's post 293, which completely vindicates my reasoning... and I came so close to winning.

Glork, what would you have done if you had switched me and Zindaras, and he ended up dead? That was the option I was hoping for.

I didn't really play particularly badly. I made one post which was made into an "uber Maz is scum evidences!11" by the scum, and the town bought it to it hook-line-sinker. I still think it's fairly obvious that what I said and what they said I said were not the same. As for self-voting, I don't see the problem, since it ended up drawing attention to DoS as a scumbag. Nobody'll believe this, but it wasn't done out of petulance - it was a last-breath attempt to get reactions.

But whatver. Screw you guys. That's a very subjective, elitist attitude. Not everyone is good at Mafia, and nobody will ever get better if you say things like this.

It's your self-voting that makes me and everyone else mad.

Correct. I don't believe you. I think what you did was childish and petulant, it could have spoiled the game for everyone else, and that is why I said what I said.

My other option was to continue going "no but guyz listen to me I'm towns!1" which was obviously not working. I'm not a big fan of fight-'til-the-last if you've already fought-'til-the-last.

You made what, one post on day one? And maybe 10 posts the whole game? Half of which were more throwing insults around than adding anything in particular. And then we're all being elitist? I hope you're kidding. Note: DoS was not a scumbag. Had Glork not caused Thesp to die that night, chances are town would have lynched DoS in lylo and lost the game.

I would have been pretty torn. Gameplay and gut told me that you were most likely to be scum, by a significant margin. The idea that scum might target themselves
had
crossed my mind; however, I found it to be *highly* unlikely from PBuG/Zindaras, and reasonably unlikely even from you.

Ultimately,
if I had switched Stoof/Zindaras
, I think I would have voted for PBuG and you would have won. However, my feelings about you and about that possibility are what made me switch from even allowing that chance to happen.

D1 was disastrous for us, and the bus driver was quite potent (as it made fake-claiming difficult if only for the fact that only one person seemed to understand it super well). I know when I was looking over the game at the start, we had the vig, tracker, and watcher, and I was still thinking, "Wow, we have too many people we have to kill."

Nicely done on that, by the way.
