Hey yessirree remember how I made a post telling people not to self-vote earlier in the thread?

I really, really, really think its important to not self-vote, especially if you are town.

But something is telling me that you saw how I loosened my pressure on Gene after his self-vote, so you were hoping that the same thing would happen again? This game doesn't work like that. I see your self-vote as MUCH more likely to come from scum than gene's.

I would imagine NS to be a man with gray hair, sitting in front of the monitor, reading some mafiascum and smoking a pipe. On his table, sits a delicate pottery tea kettle, slowly emitting steam from its spout.

Don't be fooled though, for he is a master ruseman, and he will
pull the strings
.

But, I know he won't vote me; he won't let
the fool
die so easily.

Careful readers may notice the Deadline date has been changed - I can't do adding it seems. It is now correct.

I'm not the biggest fan of the yessirree wagon

I don't know why, it doesn't feel right to me

What happened to people wagoning Bob for a slip? Are you guys convinced that its not a slip now? Because slips don't come from town, so I'm having a hard time believing that someone who was previously convinced that Bob slipped would have switched wagons.

Yeah, lynching yessirree isn't the solution, finding him a psychiatrist is. As I remember it, Nobody Special is the only one who jumped off my bandwagon without explanation, but that doesn't mean anything since NS thinks he's above explaining himself.

What are your thoughts on him, Bacde?

Truth be told, I switched to yessiree because he's an irritating little shit who also happens to be scum.

I also think Bob is still scum.

So many choices.

P-Edit: I am not above explaining myself, my previous thing was about defending myself. Subtle difference.

I really,
really
think that NS is town

which worries me, because I've never strongly read him as town before, in ANY of my games

and he's been town in all the games we've played together

But I'm unwilling to lynch someone that I'm reading as town

so I'm in a pickle

NS why is yessirree scum instead of just new/inexperienced/off the wall?

Posted: Wed Jun 19, 2013 7:02 am
by Nobody Special
It started with the stats. Then it was the insufferable overconfidence. And the survival thing.

All that together just swings my needle waaaay over to scum. Granted, I may be too emotionally invested in this read, because arrogance in itself pisses me off, not to mention everything else.

I'm willing to step back and re-read other people, and leave yessiree for tomorrow if need be. But for now, he desperately needs rope.

What about Bob's slip?

Do you think that arrogance/use of statistics/survivalistic attitude is more indicative of being scum than a scumslip?

I've been thinking about Bob's supposed scumslip for a few days. I've been going back to my first days playing Mafia (not here.... about 6 years ago) and while I honestly can't recall if I had the exact question (whether I had to be alive to win), I do remember my mindset when being presented with the newness of Mafia. Questioning whether I had to be alive to win would not have been an absurd question, to my mind.

TL;DR: Bob's 'slip' is not really so much. Still ready to hang yessiree.

LOL Bacde, how is NS town?

I almost can't count with my fingers how many times he's jumped from wagon to wagon.

I don't think jumping wagons is necessarily scummy.

NS has been pointing out legitimate things to be suspicious of IMO

you can sort of follow his train of thought with his posts, even though he doesn't lay it all out

Bacde, after reading your opinion I decided to re-read everything NS has posted so far, and tried to follow his train of thoughts.

Do you think it is impossible for town to change their mind about things?

Bob's slip didn't involve knowing whether he had to be alive to win.

Bob's "slip" was for not knowing the town win condition, if I remember correctly.

Does this affect your belief that Bob slipped?

I have a town read on Bob.

You have a strong town read on NS.

NS has a scum read on Bob.

NS wants me DEAD.

Let's say I get lynched and flip town, how will that change things?

It'll make the town a lot more quiet. And we'll have less stretched arguments on lynching someone.

In , Bob says that he assumed the "real winners" {quotes mine} were the survivors. That speaks to his understanding of the town wincon. (Also, bear in mind his first exposure to mafia was on Cracked.com, ffs. There's no way they can play anything close to a real game of mafia over there.)

In , he talks about having "just read" the Role PM. I believe other people were assuming he had 'just' (as in just prior to making
that post)
read the PM, whereas I interpret his
Bob wrote:I assumed, even after I read the role PM, that the real winners are the ones who live to tell about it
as saying that he thought that even after reading his Role PM {at the beginning of the game}.

Now, please: Explain to me the distinction between a newbtown not knowing whether he had to be alive to win, and a newbtown not knowing the town wincon. Or rather, explain how not knowing you can win while dead negates knowledge of the general town wincon. Or both, really.
