I can recruit as long as I don't already have a mentee.

When my mentee dies, I have to wait until the next night phase to recruit (of course).

I guess the only way this could not be true is if the scum have a strong willed roleblocker but that seems kind of far fetched

Looks to me like you knew two things:

1) I wasn't Mafia
2) the game had a cult

we also know the scum have a roleblocker because gamma got a result when he targetted unwnd/kazyan on the night that unwnd got rolestopped so duckie got roleblocked that night by a mafia roleblocker

and house has claimed he got roleblocked last night
