it looks like I'm going to die.

If we ever get down to a lynch-lose situation that the town looks unlikely to get out of

such as

3 scum and 4 townies.

I beg of you to just consider using my threaten winter to force confession plan.

By then you will know that I am actually protown and every word I've written is because I want to help the town.

I've outlined it in my posts, if you haven't had the oppurtunity to read them then here it goes,

1) We the town don't believe it is very likely for us to win at this stage of the game by lynching scum continously through amazing play since we've utterly failed so far to identify scum, as a result we will choose to blow us all to hell(aka go to nuclear winter) in order to make sure you lose with us.

Either you(the scum) can choose to confess and make this game more likely for the town to win in which case we will try to win instead of blowing us all up and triggering nuclear winter or you can choose to not confess and we can all lose.

We believe you already have a huge lead on us and it honestly wouldn't hurt you that much to give a man up to have some chance of winning, so your choices are either

A) give a man up and have reduced odds at winning
or
B) don't give a man up and lose FOR SURE.

There is a flaw in nuclear winter plan and that is it's a town's loss as much as it is scum's. i.e. scums won't go out of the way to prevent it. What you are suggesting is not rational at all. So I wouldn't cause a nuclear winter by launching all the nukes I have at disposal.

Meanwhile, people better make sure Pookythemagicalloosecannon is decommisioned before he presses on with this plan.

First off, pooky, the only reasonable way to extend the deadline so that we can see if Raffles is scum is if someone has a fake nuke they can launch. However, no one who has claimed so far has fake nukes, so that doesn't help us.

Secondly, I find you more suspicious for getting mad at us and using an emotional appeal, accusing us of refusing to answer your questions just because they haven't been answered yet.

Also, you're smarter than that. You, of all people, know that posting something like "Pooky is squirming scum" takes about 30 seconds, whereas typing up a response to questions requires more free time in a single sitting, so don't even try to argue that a reasonable response to your questions could have been put together in the same amount of time. My saying that you are squirming scum DOES have a purpose, because although you already know I think you are scum, I'm posting that to reassure people who might be getting swayed by your emotional appeals. It
does
contribute to discussion.

For the record, this post took 6 minutes to write. 6 minutes is far greater than 30 seconds.

After some rapid panic-driven trading in wall street, oil has just broken 200$ a barrel, at the same time the worldwide stock markets have dropped to a 100-year low.

In the past 24 hours, a large part of the world has been destoyed in nightmarish nuclear combat. For one, the UN has felt pressed to act quickly, and after a rapid series of votes and much heated debate, they have decided that something needs to be done.

The UN has ordered a millitary intervention against Pooky, one of the major world powers in the current power struggle. The invasion came quickly, and caught the American people totally by surprise; the American millitary, who had withdrawn to remote and secure locations in case of nuclear war, was totally unable to respond to the surprisingly lightning-fast invasion of the blue-helmeted UN security forces.

The United States, occupied and disarmed by UN security forces, is no longer a world power.

Pooky (United States, pro-town) has been lynched.

A massive invasion of China (Theopor_COD) occurs during the night. It begins with a series of terrorist bombings, moves up to gurillia warfare, and finally China decends into outright civil war.
Theopor_cod is dead. He was China, pro-town


In the resulting chaos, the world order as we know it falls apart. There are 3 big winners in the anarchy.

With China in anarchy, Japan destroyed, and all support from America to South Korea and other democratic powers cut off, Noth Korea (Jack) manages to dramatically expand their influince in the area. The North Korean armies first take over the whole of Korea, then move in and take over several of the richer parts of mainland China. In a world where nuclear war, massive enviorment degredation or political collapse have destroyed most major powers, North Korea is now one of the three major new world powers, ever expanding their extreme totaliatrian version of communism.

In the middle east, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and again the United States have been totally destroyed, leaving a major power vaccum, and Iran (gameshark1313) steps in. Iran quickly takes over the chaos of Iraq and Afghanistan, and from there moves on to conquer the entire middle eastern region, gaining complete control over most of the oil left in the world. The new Islamic Caliphate, headed by Iran, becomes one of the richest and most powerful regions of the world.

But the biggest winner was not a nation state at all. Before the One Day War, there was a vast, shadowy corperation that had vast influince throughout the world. This power had known bases on both the East and West coast of the United States, in Japan, and in Europe, and other smaller bases thoughout the rest of the world. It had a worldwide propagana network, controlling much of the global media, but what was not known was that it was using it's vast influince to channel funds and weapons to the rogue states. Yes, the greatest power in the world now is Disney Land (Battlemage), and after the collapse, The Mouse now rules most of the world with a white-gloved fist.

BM is almost dead anyways, half his major amusement parks got nuked: US, Japan, etc.

I can't figure out why LML and Pooky threw random nukes around, that was absolutely pointless. Even if you suspected them (and Pooky had given no reason to suspect Raffles, that came nearly out of nowhere), you had to know that the risk of missing scum at this point would lose the game for us. It wasn't worth the benefit of nuking one scum.

I think we would've won this if not for the extra nukes. It's too bad Theo messed up, but it was still winnable after that. It didn't help that all the scum basically lurked and did nothing. They certainly don't deserve the win, the only somewhat active one was BM. The town just self-destructed, so there wasn't any skill involved in winning the game.

The roles:

Mod note: I was rather worried about a mass claim breaking the game, especally with all the pro-town daykills avalable and the limited number of probable claims, so I took a few steps to prevent that; I gave both the doc and the cop improbable roles, I gave the scum safe claims, and I didn't make the number of nukes really have anything to do with the real-life nuclear capacity of the country. In retrospect, doing all three things in the same game might have been a bit much.

It's also worth noting that of the 6 ICBM's fired this game (2 fake, 4 real) all 6 of them were one pro-town player firing on an other pro-town player.

1 (To PookyTheMagicBear)

You are America (pro-town).

You have 8 nukes. However, you have a policy against using nuclear weapons in a pre-emptive strike. You can only nuke someone if they have either voted for you today or used nuclear weapons (on anyone) today.

You win if the rogue states are defeated without the world being destroyed with nuclear weapons.

2 (To Anlx/LoudMouthLee)

You are Israel (pro-town)

You have 3 nukes.

You win if the rogue states are defeated without the world being destroyed with nuclear weapons.

11 (gameshark)

You are Iran (rogue state)

You have 1 nuke. Your scum partners are Jack and Battle Mage, which are North Korea (3 nukes) and Disney Land (0 nukes, scum godfather).

Alone of all the nations in this game, you have terrorist connections, so you have two different ways you can deliver the nuke; you can either use it publicly, the way everyone else does (by saying “
nuke:xxxx
” in the thread) or you can deliver it in secret using terrorists. To do that, send a PM to the mod at any time during the day, and it will be announced in the thread that the country has been killed by nuclear weapons, but it will not be known who sent them. They will still have the normal 48 hours to respond, but they will not know who to respond against.

At night, your scum-group can choose one of your members to kill a player; this is a normal night-kill and does not involve any use of nuclear weapons.

No one suspects that you are actually run by an evil madman with links to the rogue nations and are who is trying to overturn the world order, so you will show up as innocent to any cop investigation.

At night, your scum-group can choose one of your members to kill a player; this is a normal night-kill and does not involve any use of nuclear weapons.

You win if the pro-town nations are defeated without the world being destroyed with nuclear weapons. Note that your scum group wins automatically if you end either a day-cycle or a night-cycle with 50% of the players left in the game being in your scum group.

It was pretty sweet that the town nuked the only two players capable of stopping a night kill.

If one less nuke had been fired either me or gameshark would have been lynched the next day.

I'm amazed I got away with blatant lurking.

This game was heavily favored for the scum.

All you needed to prevent a mass claim breaking the game was to provide safe claims for the scum. That's it. Changing the number of nukes out of proportion was completely unnecessary and just confused the town even more. The improbable roles I'm less mad about, but they were still unnecessary. Both of your "anti-mass claim" measures resulted in protown death D1.

Also, I think that anyone given an improbable role should've claimed a probable role to keep themselves alive, knowing that they would be disbelieved if they told the truth. However, they didn't do that for some reason, resigning themselves to death.
