Since teams will be able to specify the 4 games they'd rather play, I'm assuming they are all open setups?

None were open set-ups last year.

Role Assignments
After the draft takes place, your team will get a PM with four role PMs, one for each game your team is in. You must then PM the moderator with which player you wish to have which role.

There ya go.

I'm no longer a free agent, as the keen observer already knows. Please take me out of the OP. ;)

Nah. It was PYP and White Flag, which is mountainous. Then there was a closed Normal game and then whatever Psychic Mafia was.

Anyway, yes. you will know the names and some descriptions of the games. We're still sorting through all that but right now we're looking at a Normal Closed Game, White Flag Mountainous, Two Theme Games, and an Alt Game.

It's a good thing. Variance against the possibility of having two teams on same faction across the board, and it theoretically should allow more players to participate.

Yeah, depends on interest and so forth - I know it was an option last year given how many teams applied but it was too late to change it (From 4 games to 5)

I think 4 is probably a good size for a team though - 4 games is enough to have to concentrate on.

4 teams versus 5 was a very purposeful decision. While 5 does have some things to recommend it (the larger the teams, the more we could move to a simple "how many did you win?" and not get a tie system), the following are reasons I decided against it:

1. I like adding an additional wrinkle that allows teams to try and focus on games they think will suit them.
2. The vast majority of people feel stretched pretty thin trying to follow 3 other games, even though someone is helping them with their own (though there is, of course, no requirement that teams actually follow the other games)
3. While Team Mafia is by its nature somewhat clique-inducing, addition of people per team simply makes this worse. It would likely create a lot of excitement in a select few teams and a lot of ambivalence in others. It would likely serve to remove those who would serve as excitement cores to teams and puts them on teams that don't need it.
4. Doing it this way allows me to scale the game. If there's not enough interest for 5 games but there is for 4, it's pretty simple to just move it to 4 games. I can't do that if I start with 5 person teams, really.
