Mini 233: Gem Mafia (Day five, Game over.)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Sep 13, 2005 3:40 pm

Post by EnderX »

Due to a bequest from an anonymous donor, the Scummiton Museum of Natural History has recently obtained a large case of gemstones. However, workers who have to go near the stones have reported hearing strange things, and some even claim to have seen the stones plotting with each other...

Originally, there were fifteen stones in the new case. However, over the past few days, three of them have been found in damaged condition. They were beyond repair, and have been removed by the museum staff. What fate awaits the twelve remaining gems?

Still on display:

Shiryu, Jet, Mafia Godfather

Removed and discarded:

Nox, Tourmaline, Mason-Shattered Night 1.
Warpdragon, Sapphire, Doc-Gunked Night 1.
Kain, Alexandrite, Mason-Lynched Day 1.
Crola, Amber, SK-Fallen Day 1 to a delayed-effect nightkill.
rhapsdy2, Pearl, Mafia hench-Lynched Day 2.
darquiel, Amethyst, Backup Cop/Doc-Shattered Night 3.
Coron, Coral, Mafia hench-Lynched/Delaykilled Day 3.
Bifrost, Ruby, Cop-Shattered Night 4.
TINM (replacing Fry Guy), Bloodstone, Reviver-Lynched Day 4.
chaotic_diablo, Obsidian, Vig-Shattered Night 5.
Bacde , Quartz, Contact Reflector-Killed in Endgame.

Game Rules (Stolen [and refinished] from Crola, who apparently stole them from himself)

1) No foul language or insults to your fellow players or mod. Doing so could lead to replacement or mod kill.

2) When you're dead, you're dead. No more posts from you, none. Not even "Arghh," posts. If you still feel you must talk about the game and it's conspiracies, you may only talk with me. All dead posts will be erased.

3) Do not talk with anybody about the game, outside of the game at any time. Unless, of course, I tell you to, in which you can only talk at night.

4) Night deadlines will be two to three real days, unless another deadline is made by me. Morning deadlines will not be made unless the game comes to what looks like a stop, or if there's like only two people talking about hats or something.

5) If you need extensions on anything, please ask and I'll be happy to help. Also, if you are not going to be here (on the site) for any reason, please PM me, I will have absolutely no way of knowing otherwise. I will tell the rest of the players you will be gone.

6 ) Just like in real life, what you say has been said, so think before you speak. This means no editing or erasing your posts. Also, NO QUOTING MY PMS. This means no quoting any PMS I've given you whatsoever.

7) If you have questions about the game feel free to chat with me via PM.

8) Oh, this rule goes without saying, please bold your votes, and unvote when you unvote. A majority of votes will result in an execution. A No Execution can be voted for the same way, this way you can all go to sleep with a good conscience in your head. When someone's dead, unvotes won't save them.

9) No secret or invisible texts please, you may write only in visible English.

10) There are no exceptions to the rules.

The overhead security lighting begins to flicker, then bit by bit goes out. The normal lights start shining, indicating the beginning of the museum's day. They illuminate the gemstone case, with its ten shining stones within...

Wait a minute. Ten?

A moment's observation reveals that two stones are missing, Nox and Warpdragon. Carefully, you begin to look for them. On an upper shelf, you find a pile of green and red fragments, all that remains of Nox, while the middle slot of the bottom shelf holds Warpdragon's remains, covered in what appears to be some form of hardening sap. You regather in the center of the gem case, where you notice that Crola is limping a bit, and holding his side. You realize that whoever was responsible for the previous three gemstones has struck again, and you quickly decide to avenge the fallen by destroying whoever has done this foul deed.

Nox, Tourmaline, Mason-Shattered Night One.
Warpdragon, Sapphire, Doc-Gunked Night One.
Day One begins.

based on how long it took some to confirm and based on how it took to make a night selection leads me to believe that the people who took so long to confirm are in fact the mafia. Hope that made sense...therefore I start this off ( rather confused that TWO players died) and
vote for BIFORST

Just to clear things up, I was gone from 9/14 ~ 9/17. I've informed the mod of it beforehand, I'm sure Miss/Mister Mod can back me up on this one. :P

Once more, not-so-random
Vote: Kain
for being the only person I've played with before in this game!

Seeing two deaths this early on worries me; that more or less means we have a serial killer on our hands, right?

So it would seem. Mafia and Serial Killer are our best bets, or a Vig with a poor aim.
I will not vote just yet, I'll wait a little and see what everyone has to say.

Huh, that's the first time I've seen a random vote against one's self.

Anyway, I really don't think that second kill was due to a vigilante. I mean, killing one player on the first night, with no info whatsoever seems pretty reckless to me. So most likely we have a SK; seeing as how we've already lost our doc, I'd say we have a pretty rough game ahead of us.

Crola, do you have anything to say about that limping EnderX mentioned?

I have no friggen clue to be completely honest, if someone could explain that to me that would be great.

So, we're still waiting for Fryguy to post?

I would like to note that there were at least 3 people who confirmed after me(...well one was actually excused, but whatever). I was barely in the last third to confirm. :P

If it's arbitrary or reasonably so I'd ask that you'd day arbitrary somewhere in your post, and if it's not than I must admit you aren't very smart ;)

Well if one was excused... then I'm willing to beleive that there are 3 scum.

Either way I've never seen anyone vote based on the length of confirm time. Can this become a new way to catch scum? Doubtful.

Yeah, sorry Kain, but I don't think that confirm times aren't don't make very solid reasons to vote for someone. You also have to consider that not everyone (or at least not me) actually paid attention to that, so we'd still have to take the word of those who did.

Ah well, day one syndrome, I guess.

This is day one so most of the stuff we argue about is just about 100% speculation.

So here's my speculatory theory- i think that those who took longest to confirm are most likely the mafia. Why you ask? The night selections took a while to go through...my reasoning is that the mafia( slow confirmers) had to think about it. If the mafia was someone who confirmed early in the game then i believe that that they would have been faster at making thier night selection(s?)

You will notice that the ones that were slaughtered were experienced players....these mafia are experienced players and one that took a while to confirm because perhaps they were busy playing other mafia games?

Just a theory.Probably wrong. Live and learn eh?

I'm not convinced. These mafia could be experienced, or they could be newbs who are intimidated by the 'experienced' players and decided to get rid of them.

If your correct in your speculation, than coron is the mafia godfather since he's the only one who can send in a choice. Either that or he's cop, vig, roleblocker, etc. Or he could just be a random townie who just happened to confirm late.
In other words, I'm not convinced. However, if we don't get anyway in the next few days, I'll 'pretend' to agree and add on the vote. I have a faint memory of coron playing innocent when he turned out to be scum.

I'm inclined to agree with chaotic_diablo on the confirm-time issue. There are too many things that can affect one's confirming time. As for the two people killed, that can swing both ways. Just like chaotic_diablo said, it can be newbies trying to take out experienced players, or experienced players attempting to kill off other oldies to prevent trouble later in the game.

But then again, as Kain said day 1 is pretty much all speculation. I seriously don't think this Coron confirm-time thing is going anywhere, though.
