This made me lol.In post 2043, N wrote:Hi. Sorry for holding up up the queue! Cho and BE are fine. I'm currently on my phone, so I haven't done background checks, but from Six's behaviour in this thread (showing an inability to follow directions) and idk's Townsperson title, I'm going to reject them.

In my opinion, kunkstar's the best Mod on the site. I fully expect it to be lots of fun.In post 2055, SiX wrote:/in The Network, seems promising.- RedCoyote

Howdy, Commander.
You may want to check out this thread. That thread is for discussing open setups. This thread is reserved for signing up to play or moderate themed mini-sized games, not to discuss new ones. Welcome to MS! I hope to see you around sometime. Let me know if I can help you out any.- RedCoyote

Looking forward to playing with Sal again. I'll bet he plays much differently than the last time I played with him.
I think this is a boss playerlist (I love a good mix of older players and newer ones), a cool Mod (Skull has given me every indication that we've got a thoughtful, eager Mod here), and a fun theme. This should be fun.- RedCoyote

Not quite in sign-ups yet, but I want to get this post out of the way before my setup makes it to hopefully explain the process more thoroughly.
Zodiac Mafia is a 12-player, closed setup.
I'm going to be a bit ambitious and try to fill the game up with one player of every sign of the Zodiac. If this causes the game to stagnate too much (let's give it 10 days, of course depending on the List Mod's discretion), then I will open the sign-ups to all players. No hydras*, please. It runs counter to the theme I am trying to create. If you do not know your sign, use the chart below to calculate it. Whatever range your date of birth falls within the range of, that is your sign. If there is already a name in place, then that spot has been reserved by another player. As you can see, I currently have six /pre-ins from PeregrineV, Sal, Xay, Juls, Witness Protection and SC. When signing up for this game, please inform me of your sign in the thread or via PM.
Username Sign Birthdate Range PeregrineV Aquarius January 20 - February 18 Nachomamma8**Pisces February 19 - March 20 Witness Protection Aries March 21 - April 19 Elyse**Taurus April 20 - May 20 STD/FWTJR**Gemini May 21 - June 20 Juls Cancer June 21 - July 22 Leo July 23 - August 22 Iecerint**Virgo August 23 - September 22 Salamence20 Libra September 23 - October 22 burn_209**Scorpio October 23 - November 21 Xayzeck Sagittarius November 22 - December 21 StrangerCoug Capricorn December 22 - January 19
*I will accept hydras on the conditions that the heads have the same sign, I personally know the heads, and I can verify at least one past game to my standards.

I am rejecting this /in only because I have had someone already express interest in the Virgo slot. If they change their mind, I'll be happy to honor it again. Sorry, gameplay!
List Mod, as a reminder, I have PeregrineV, Salamence20, Xayzeck, Juls, Witness Protection and StrangerCoug as /pre-ins.
Also, as STD already mentioned, his hydra proposition was too enticing to resist. He and ForWhomTheJellyRolls are twins and they're both Geminis. That was just too perfect, lol.- RedCoyote

Just realized that the virgo slot is not occupied by a pre-/in. Do you intend to effectively extend your number of pre-/in's by rejecting everyone who hasn't "expressed interest"? I understand rejecting people based on sign if that slot is actually taken, but applying this to unfilled slots just because someone has expressed interest is dodgy, imo. And certainly not gameplay motivated.
I do, yes. I think it's only fair if they have shown interest in the game prior to when it was in sign-ups (and prior to yourself or gameplay ... and, although I'm sure you're aware, I do want it said that this is by no means personal, if the shoe were on the other foot I'd do the same for both of y'all).
If the List Mod strikes me down, then I will relent as I do not want to do anything untoward, but I'd rather be seen as bending the rules for players that sought me/this theme out before the game was in sign-ups then just cross my fingers and hope I can fill all of my slots given the restricted nature of the theme I have chosen to run.
In other words, I'm not doing this just for the sake of exerting power. I advertised this game for a week or so, and I want to show my appreciation to those that were on board with it early. Because if I hadn't heard from them, I wouldn't have known whether or not I could even attempt to run this game this way.- RedCoyote

And I still fail to see for what purpose you are doing it other than to moderate a quasi-invitational.
I'm not going to debate you further on this. I think this is an interesting theme and (shaping up to be) an interesting player list and I'd like to play, but if I can't so be it.
It's really not an invitational at all. I didn't invite one person to play. Every person PMed me on their own accord. Please understand, I'm not out to fill this with my buddies or anything like that. I'd love to have you play, CTD, but I just wanted to give respect to the player that asked me to play earlier even though I technically didn't have a /pre-in to give them.
Look, I mean, if the list mod tells me I'm being too overt about this, I will absolutely relent and would be glad to have you, gameplay or anyone else that wants to try it out. You especially I know of as a great player and a joy to have as a sign-up. I hope you understand where I'm coming from, even if you don't agree with me.
zora wrote:What rights does Peregrine, for example, have that Iecerint does not in this attempt?
I see no functional difference.
Pere was one of the first six to /pre-in, Iec was not.
I fully intended to be completely open and above board that Iec more or less showed interest in this slot and that I would be reluctant to accept anyone else coming in given that they had not approached me before Iec had.
Again, if the list mod says this practice is too overt, I submit to her ruling. I'm by no means trying to be power hungry or fly in the face of authority. I just wanted to do everything in my power as the mod of my game to protect a slot that someone had shown interest in before anyone else had.- RedCoyote

Also allow me to add there's the concept that burn brought up that it fringes into territory of unwritten rules of politeness and social decorum. Like, take a movie theater for example. You save a seat for your friends in the middle of the theater. You don't own those seats. The theater owns the seats. You want to save them because you're there to watch a movie and you'd rather sit next to someone that pre-arranged this visit with you as opposed to a stranger. Now, a stranger could come up and say, "There's no such thing as saving seats! I'm sitting here!" The guy saving the seats can really do anything about that... but it's just not really a cool thing to do.
Anyway, we're cluttering up the queue thread. I didn't mean for this to be a debate. I just wanted to run a game of Mafia, honest! I'd be happy with burn or CTD! They're both wonderful!
Seriously though, whatever Equinox wants to do is her decision. Let her be the bad guy (or the good guy). - RedCoyote
