Mini 360-SIHM Math Mafia - Mod Abandoned

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Aug 08, 2006 7:26 am

Post by stark »

Welcome comrades to SIHM, The Starklevanian Institute of Higher Mathematics. In the utopian People's Republic of Starklevania, its residents are happy, prosperous, professional and fun-loving. But the evil United States of Jesusland seeks to topple our cuddly People's Republic, and convert it into a massive parking lot! Seeing the growing threat of armed invasion from the USJ, coupled by the obvious fact that the Starklevanian military is severly dwarfed by that of the USJ, the Inner Council has called upon its finest math geeks to outwit the USJ using cunning and math. Using genetic manipulation (because we all know
anything
can be accomplished using genetic manipulation) these young prodigies have been endowed with amazing powers. But it is feared that the Jesuslandians may have gotten to them first....

Solved

armlx- Role multiplier, pro-town (lynched day 1)
Thok- roleblocker, pro-town (slashed with a triangle night 1)
VisMaior - sine tangent, mafia (lynched day 2)
Save The Dragons - cosine tangent, mafia (lynched day 3)

Rules (ripped from my old game, which was ripped from shelper, which was ripped from MeMe)

Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.

Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.

Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. You may vote: no lynch – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.

The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.

Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.

Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts

Don’t quote any PMs from me.

If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made.

If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.

Remember, it’s a game. It’s supposed to played. It’s supposed to be fun. Do your part.

Math Jokes of the Day:

"When a statistician passes the airport security check, they discover a bomb in his bag. He explains. "Statistics shows that the probability of a bomb being on an airplane is 1/1000. However, the chance that there are two bombs at one plane is 1/1000000. So, I am much safer..."

"Dean, to the physics department. "Why do I always have to give you guys so much money, for laboratories and expensive equipment and stuff. Why couldn't you be like the math. department - all they need is money for pencils, paper and waste-paper baskets. Or even better, like the philosophy department. All they need are pencils and paper."

The red sun of the Revolution dawns over the institiute, and the game has begun!

I preemptively
random vote Yosarian2
for not random voting. And if he does random vote, then I'll keep my random vote on him for delibarately changing his voting habits just to make me look bad.

Given the theme, is it worthwhile to talk about each player's math backgrounds? This may or may not be useful later on in trying to assess if somebody is making a fake claim.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

Pre-Emptive OMGUS Vote: Mith
.

Anybody who visits ScumChat with any regularity will know that, at some point or another, Mith will unreasonably push for my lynch at some point or another. I'll just get the OMGUS out of the way now. :P

Wouldn't that make you his scumbuddy, as the second earliest name alphabetically?

Random voting am dumb.

<shrug> I can't see a danger in doing so, but I also can't see much benefit. My role doesn't require that I understand higher math.

Heh. Actually, try to random vote about half the time, to keep people guessing.

vote:save the dragons
because I just random voted him in a different game.

(shrug) Well, could be, or there might be something in the setup or in certain roles or something where the town gets an advantage from solving some kind of math problems, or something like that. Perhaps we should wait a day or two so for this, just in case it turns out the town will need math ability for some reason.
I want us to win just for Yos' inevitable rant alone. -CrashTextDummie

Now wait a minute. I've got plenty of reasons for voting for you.

1. You're scum.
2. You're not scum, and I'm luring the scum out to bandwagon you.
5. It's funny.

Also, that's scumchat. This is not scumchat.

Vote: Glork
, he's clearly misrepresenting the facts.

It is a theory which needs a little bit of work, granted, but it is a theory and not a law :)

Are you saying you are some sort of weird anti-math type guy who is afraid of the cosine function?

Isn't it obvious? Mith's ordering system was part of a series, starting with 1, in which each number was equal to 1 + the square of the number that preceded it. Thus, if his list had continued, the next point would have been number 26. Clearly.

Duh.
