Quote Persistence Issue

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Feb 16, 2015 11:25 am

Post by TroubledTownie »

I keep running into a strange problem where old posts I've quoted keep showing up everytime I try to quote a new post, or preview a reply I put into the box at the bottom of a thread.

As an example, I'll ctrl-click the Quote button on Post 100 and Post 101. I'll trim Post 101 down to what I wanted, and copy/paste that into the reply for Post 100 and submit.

Hunky dory groovy.

Problem is, I want to respond to something on the next page, so when I click quote, both Post 100 and Post 101 are already in the reply box. Same thing if I post a reply at the bottom and hit Preview.

Sometimes it's just a slight annoyance, but all day yesterday I was having to remove 5 very long quotes every time I posted.

Is this a known bug?

Are you on a mobile? I had this problem recently offsite. I just put the quotes that kept coming back in a spoiler tag and posted them; that got rid of them for me.

Not mobile. I'm on Chrome, Windows 7.

I haven't had it happen when I've done my replying and quoting in a single tab, but I hate being constrained to just one tab like that.

A couple. Last Pass, Tampermonkey(no scripts running)... I'll disable them and try another browser if that doesn't resolve it.

Not in these cases. I use Q+ when the quotes are short and won't need to be trimmed, but if they are long, I load them up individually, trim them, then put them together.

This happens to me too. 100% reproduction rate. Using the quote button automatically activates the Q+ option.

Well, I've figured out how to avoid it. What I've been doing is just having 1 main tab, and doing everything in new tabs opened off of that. As long as I make sure all the secondary tabs are closed when I'm done with a post, and then refresh or load the next page on the main tab, it doesn't happen.
