I feel like my read rate on morning is good and I think I’ve only misread her as scum like once and it was a game I was reading second hand

I feel like if anything she’d be more active as scum here, and while I know that her activity levels don’t mean that much I feel like she’s good at doing very earnest solving as town whereas when she’s scum it feels more forced or there’s just same-to-more posts in number but they have less of a solving focus in them

I mean if you wanna try to sell me on ali>ahsoka today then I’ll listen

And like the whole reason FL quickhammers as town is so he can as scum

Yes, when I rand scum it’s a very useful excuse for miselimming him, but it’s still a good idea to policy him for it for the times when he is scum

I have too many scumleans this game

MT — actual townslots
Hopkirk

Kanna — here only by virtue of not being as scummy as people below
Uncrowned

Pooky — sort of want to trust morning here but didn’t like the justification for his vote on ABR

ABR — broad scumpool
Clidd
Ali

ahsoka — just policy him tbh, save the headache and no more worrying about other quickhammers

Why are you simping for ahsoka

Do you actually townread him? Or is it literally just that you’re opposing flipping him bc of the quickhammer? Which tbh just seems dumb bc then you’re providing like no negative incentive to /not/ do it as town and actively encouraging him to do it as scum

I still dislike your attempts, primarily in the PT, to argue that you’re out of your scum meta and not only out of it but so far out of it that you’re obvtown/the towniest slot in the game or whatever

Also lowkey I’m not sure town!you is so abrasive with me particularly, or at least certainly not in my memory, even when I am calling you scum

I feel like the last time you tried to dismiss me was the game with skitter in it that I repped out of when I maybe had covid (can’t remember what it was, maybe a datisi modded game? Strawberry or something?) and you went on about how my takes were ridiculous or something whereas when I’ve been town and I’ve misread you as scum (a la smuggler’s) you’ve honestly just been pretty resigned to it

And the way that you’re tying to like actively fight me about this rather than just trust in me to see that you’re town as the game goes on while simultaneously arguing that your town meta is to be passive and reactive rather than proactive is like... questionable

That’s kind of rich given that every scumgame I’ve tried in (bar 2) I’ve won, and I’m both cases the losses were only due to mechanics, and in one I realised after that town technically broke the rules of the game but just decided to let it lie

And you’re here saying you’re not trying to control the agenda at all or whatever while literally, literally arguing that you’re so towny you should basically be beyond reproach and massively overreacting to me basically just disagreeing with that

Like I didn’t enter the game going “lol wow ali so obvscum” I entered saying “nah I also don’t really townread ali and find er assertation that if his townreads contain scum only e or Kanna would EVER be killed because how could you be so ridiculous to suggest that ANYONE else would be the NK if scum is in hop/Clidd/ahsoka” was valid as a take and then ur reaction to me pointing out that ur really not cleared by any means or that obviously town to me/outside your scum meta has been met by you doubling down on trying to claim you are outside of that

Which is like doubly sus actually now I think about it bc you normally love to talk up ur scumgame whereas here you’re trying to argue that it’s so bad that you couldn’t replicate it in even a basic sense that you’d need to to play like this
"we knew everything... And we knew nothing."

I’ll listen to morning if she wants to talk about how your meta is pointing to town you but frankly for how little you’ve done so far other than yell about being town I struggle to see how you’re outside your scummeta esp considering you normally take the line that your scumgame is basically godlike

Like you’re spending this time trying to shade me instead of redirecting me to any points of interest or trying to get my take on particular things

Why, if your entire reason to SR me is “mena SRs me and also other slots townier”, would you not be interested in giving me a chance to get into the game (given that I’m generally p good at showing I’m town when engaged) and also that if half of why you SR me is bc you don’t think I should scumread you... how do you think deliberately trying to shut me out here is going to make me feel about you?

I love that you don’t seem to be able to conceptually differentiate between the idea of “hand holding” and the idea of “i know that I’m more effective when I bounce my ideas off other people instead of just coming to conclusions on everything in isolation”

Also, protip: it’s not one or the other

But when it’s like 2 days to deadline and I’m far behind you know what /town/ would actually do? Try to suggest where I should look or say what the key things I’ve missed have been!

You know what scum would do? Try to shade the person and avoid making re-entry easy

If anything this just sounds like TMI on why there wasn’t a NK bc that’s such a bizarre thing for your mind to go to instead of just (nightless, doctor, odd-night nightless, bulletproof, commuter)

And also doesn’t take into account that I have like, a demonstrable track record of entering nearly every game with a joke and one of my old faithfuls being “pretending to think the neighbourhood is a scum PT”

Feels like ABR is just down to vote out whoever is flavour of the day and him being willing to say “low hanging fruit PoE is unlikely” doesn’t go well with the votes he’s making? Like he’s backing a vote in clidd/Ahsoka when they’re conflicting

When I start picking up later he’s happy to reverse on/forget about his logic for why I was town and vote me

And yea he can say “it’s policy bc mena wasn’t around” but like there were good policy reasons to go for FL!slot from the start of today that he basically ignored so “policy” isn’t really a good enough explanation

Like roughly I’m thinking

Clidd
MT
Hop
Uncrowned
Pooky
Ali, kanna
NSG
ABR

but i feel like i need to talk to more people and prob do more ISOs if I have time

Mainly I haven’t really looked that much at the (pooky, uncrowned, kanna) slots yet and I haven’t really come to a hard call on ali yet

I still think ali is scummy and if e’s town e’s playing like dogshit with the tunnel on me but like equally the UTRs generally(?) aren’t scum so maybe I’m just frustrated by how trashy the push is esp as it’s been while I just wasn’t here and e doesn’t seem to have any interest in actually sorting me at this point

What happened to “I’m pretty sure Menalque is town”? Because if your switch onto me was just policy for my lack of presence in thread, meh, I kind of find that understandable

But I don’t think you like ever really made clear what changed substantively in why you were reading me as town and now apparently are not, when the one thing that did kind of justify your vote (my inactivity) has now changed

So you’re doubling down on one of the more popular choices today, despite earlier having said you thought I was town, and are neglecting to actually pursue the scumreads that you /do/ claim to have — like Clidd/NSG/MT

YES YOU WERE WHAT
No, I wasn’t, and your continued inability to understand that is your problem and not mine

I had no interest in actually getting you eliminated, I just wanted people to think that we weren’t aligned if I got eliminated D2. Pooky had it basically 100% when he said “I think you’re TvT but you’re going to argue for another 15 pages”. I was always planning to come round to TRing you but then you got so stuck into the idea of bussing me that I couldn’t and you ignored all the attempts I was making to back off from you which meant I also had to double down to try and make sure you’d be able to endgame once I was dead

It got a lot harder once you started TMIing the setup all over the place, as it did when FL managed to get under a lot of susp while I was ill meaning that I needed to bus as NSG was going down

When was 'conceding' an option that became relevant?
It’s ydrasse’s place to address this but I believe she won’t be upset with me for saying she felt that the game integrity had been irrevocably damaged by the time she accepted, which was probably true but I was still gonna play on because I don’t think conceding is ever justified outside of the game being mechanically lost

How do u win?
I was never intending to endgame, I was expecting you to endgame because you were the one who was widely townread

After you conceded I was gonna try to pretend I didn’t mind being the next elim as a wifomy non-survivalistic play and to argue that you have too much integrity to true-scumclaim with a buddy and that therefore you doing so should be considered clearing for me, and then to try and get ABR, uncrowned and hop executed probably

How did u want me to respond?
I already said, I was expecting us to conflict for a while and then to leverage that as a reason to TR you

But when I started trying to do that (the points where I said very explicitly that I wasn’t lockscum on you/when MT asked me and I said that I wasn’t sure who the scum in the townbloc was) you just kept pressuring me non-stop and I couldn’t get it to a point where I was TRing you

So I decided to just double down on the distancing despite the TMI stuff you’d said and hope that town would miss that or that you’d spin it out right

I saw Solaris first and thought that was a good intro but I would defer to shiki here

this isn't even what joel is doing like the movie leads him to water and he still doesn't drink it

it's only the version of clementine inside of his head that says she wishes for him to stay not clementine herself

...
...is it tho? I think the film leaves it slightly ambiguous as to if what’s going on in that respect

Like I think a strong point of spotless mind is that it really doesn’t want to give concrete answers about what exactly is going on and whether this is all science or if there’s a magical/religious side to what’s happening

and yes i agree that it is very touching in theory, and that people are flawed and yet deserve love... but i can still also think in this case joel sucks and needs a lot of self improvement before i think he can have a meaningful relationship with her that won't end the same way! i don't want him to stagnate but neither do i think he's uh, great
I just don’t think Joel sucks that bad or is like a lot worse than clem, I think they’re just flawed in different ways

I also have an optimistic reading of the ending compared to a lot of people I think, so maybe that also bleeds into how I see it? But like I kind of think the film is them doing that work that’s needed to be able to have a healthy relationship — not necessarily a successful one, but at least one without the problems they had

I mean on the one hand yes and sorry but on the other hand you have had 17 years to watch it and nothing really spoiler-y has been said so far

I'm not sure i've we've even played together before, don't know her outside of mafiascum.
Me/Hectic do have a fair few irl friends who've used the site. I think it's about eight of us now? One notable mention included someone who I played two games with about three years before we met outside of mafiascum and they thought the name 'Hopkirk' sounded familiar. I then found the games we were in.

I'm going to sleep now before hectic starts making jokes comparing our sleeping patterns. Someone convince Hectic to watch Mullholland DR. while i'm gone
Ahh right, gotcha gotcha

What if I wanna watch it now? But yeah I wasn't sure wrt if things being said were spoiler-y so that's fine
Well I’m just generally more careful about spoilers for recent films and I feel like after X amount of time has passed if you’re discussing a film publicly then you don’t need to worry too much about spoilers if it’s, say, over 10 years old
