In this game, no player is forced to be a townie mafia, or power role. Their alignment is not even 'forced' upon them. If you want to be a bad guy, all you have to do is turn traitor, rescind your "Good" alignment and assigned a bad one.
Every player starts off as a Townie with the following Role PM:
At any point in the game, day, twilight, or night, Townies have the option to defect. Defecting is instantaneous as of the point the private message is received, even if there is some delay in response from the moderator in acknowledging it.Congratulations, you are a Townie! You have only one ability, and that is to root out scum and lynch them. This ability is your own and can not be directed or tested by any moderator. Use it wisely! You can not communicate with any other player outside of the thread.

If you are one of the first player(s) to defect, you will be sent a Role PM with the following information:
Congratulations, you have unburdened yourself of the need to act 'townish'. You are now aMafia. Your fellow mafiates, if any, are _______. More mafiates may or may not be joining you later. Each night you have one shared kill to be used between the bulk of you - use it wisely! You win when only mafiates and mafia traitors are left alive. You may communicate with other mafiates outside of hte thread during the Night Phases only at the following link: (Link)
The only exception to this is when only a select percentage of the surviving players remain Townies; when that happens those players become 'locked in' as townies, and in addition get several advantages: Masonry and a shared vig kill. For example, if the percentage is "10%", then if 20 people are alive and 18 have turned mafia/traitor, the remaining 10% (2) would be immediately forced into a mason group. (I assure you the percentage will not be that low, this is an example). If the third to last townie turned traitor and the second to last attempted to turn traitor before the mod notified them that they were indeed a mason, the forced masonry would take precedence.
If you turn traitor, your role PM will go like this:
A bit of foresight can suggest that certain players are more likely to turn traitor than others - the game will indeed have a good bit of psychoanalyzation of the player's character and play style in it.Congratulations, you have unburdened yourself with the need to win with the town! Unfortunately there's only so many guns for the mafia to use, so you will have to sit quietly on the side lines and help the mafia win. You are now aMafia Traitor. The mafia are (Names). You win if and only if one of the mafiates are alive and no townsfolk are at the end of the game. You may not communicate with any other players in the game outside of the game thread.
If you want to become a power role, you will have to earn it. Only those town players who can survive being lynched or night killed or the temptation to turn traitor if things start getting rough will earn the right to become vigilantes. If you manage to make it to that point in the game, you will be sent a PM with the following reward.
If no players have defected after three game days, the game will end in a win for all players involved. As soon as one player has defected, they will need to be killed before town can win.Congratulations, you have stayed true to the goal of rooting out scum. Through thick and thin you've trusted your guts, and now you will be rewarded for it. You, and the other stead fast townies, (Names, if applicable) are now a mason group. You may talk with the other masons at night at this bulletin board: (Link). In addition to knowing each other's alignments, and being able to talk with each other, you also have ONE gun that you can use once epr night to shoot down other players in the game. Don't feel bad for them - every single one of them has betrayed the town you love so dear. Kill them. Kill them *all*. And Good Luck!
Similarly, of any players who choose to defect, only up to a certain percentage of surviving players can become mafia - after that percentage has been reached, players can only become mafia traitors. Mafia traitors know who the mafia are, and when if the mafia wins, but the mafia and any other traitors do not know about them.
The outcome and basis of the game is literally dependant wholly on the players who decide to play, which is where the next step comes in:
Traditional rules (Stolen from Shea and modified heavily.):
1.) Have fun. This is not an option.
2.) The mod is always right. Always. Yes, even then. However, if you think there’s some confusion, and it absolutely can’t wait until the end of the game, send me a PM; do not break my game because you died when you didn’t think you should’ve.
3.) Days will continue until either of two things happen: a player is lynched, or a deadline passes.
4.) Voting must be done in the format
5.) I will post a vote count every now and then. I am not infallible in this aspect and if you think the vote count is off, say so and I will double check it.
6.) Do NOT quote your role PMs, OR any other form of communication from me unless it is something I have already posted on this thread. This is a modkillable offense.
7.) Do not discuss the game outside of the game thread unless your role allows you to, in which case you may only do it during the specified times with the specified players. This is a modkillable offense.
8.) You’re required to post regularly. I prod after 1 week of inactivity and replace after 1 week of no response to the prod. This rule is flexible if you PM me in advance. Please be mindful, I will not be checking the V/LA thread regularly. That's not my job. If you have posted there, I expect you to send me a PM as well.
9.) Once you’re dead, you’re no longer subject to the previous rule. As a matter of fact, once you’re dead, stop posting. I will permit one simple “bah” post and nothing more. Please make sure that there is absolutely NO game relevant information in this post. Yes, even “go scum” is game relevant. Don’t do it.
10) In the event of a modkill, it will end the day.
1.) No lynches are not possible. Sorry about that. Even if nobody has turned traitor, someone will have to swing.
2.) If a deadline passes without a player receiving a majority of the votes, the amount of votes it takes to lynch will be reduced by
3.) Any questions directed to the mod will be responded to as if the question were based on a theoretical situation.
4) This game will have automatic 1 month deadlines.
