Umm... this is a scum post by Taly. It was noted over and over that the M:TG roles were created

BEFORE

alignments were given, based upon the mana choices we made. That means that the MTG color flavor only means something if Varsoon lied to us.

Taly (and certainly Alisae) are both engaged enough to know that, but are trying to push like OTM's flip clears them.

That's a scum move.

This is the 2nd time Taly has tried to advance the idea that color identity from the MTG phase (which were all created before alignment was randomly assigned, per the mod) clears their slot.

My Character is Venser. My colors are Blue and White, and I had a day power to gain blue mana and a night power that could gain white mana. I could guess someone's color identity and if I got it right I would get one blue mana, up to four times a day. I believe brass while he was around checked Taly with pure blue and came up negative, and after brass left I checked Maid Cafe for White only and White/Green on Micc, and near end of the day I checked RR for Blue/White, all three of mine also came up negative. My night ability is I track up to four players and if all of them act I get two white mana. I targeted Chara, Maid Cafe, Bronya, and Almost50, trying to basically get a good baseline for future uses on who might have actions, and I got no action on all of them. So all of them are cleared from last night's kill I guess, and that can't be the scumteam.

I just don't agree with what your saying about Alisae.
I don't think the color thing implies anything about how Alisae casted the sword.
And I don't really see how the posts in question argue that they are conf town as well and even then that's a really common thing people do on this site.

I think it's more they want a mass claim because they want to see what role people had and how they chose to use them not they wanted to speculate from a flavor stand point.

In Varsoon's defense, he told us about the importance of flavor if claimed in this game. Flavor =/= Alignment, -COLOR- is apart of flavor and works toward helping create knowledge about the game.

This is why claims are important. It's vital, to a degree, on understanding the progression of the game and people's motivations by this.

Also, I want to reiterate this from the signup thread:
Do not expect that all the Spell Cards in this game reflect their real-game counterparts.
I've mostly tried to render the Magic the Gathering mechanics as Mafia mechanics, but some spells may have different mana costs, type, or effect than what you expect.
In short, flavor knowledge will not help you solve this game unless players claim their spell card flavors and their spell card flavors happen to match the real card flavors.
Also, as a very important heads up, a large part of this game design will include players gaining advantage over others if they have knowledge of the setup flavor.
For that reason, claiming flavor may have an actual mechanical detriment to your win condition.
Finally, Flavor has no bearing on alignment. All alignments were generated AFTER roles were created.

TL;DR: Flavor can, to an extent, be gamed, but only IF CLAIMED. Flavor =/= Alignment.

Honestly, I don't quite get the adverse reaction to the gamestate changing. I feel like we were hinted this.

@Taly, Part of my reservations with massclaim are the very people who want the claim are not doing it. I'm very anti massclaim in 90+ percent of situations. There's no guarantee we don't go back and I don't want to help scum. The only things I'd find useful for now are the things I asked about.

Plus, it's possible that scum has CONTROL on the plane shifts, it may be limited, but it's possible.

Claiming is NOT for set-up spec. It is purely to weed out town motivations and scum motivations.

At LEAST claim MtG roles.

Going to have to disagree. I read a few thousand posts and caught up with the game twice during the first day because I signed up for a M:TG themed game. This is honestly a game Varsoon should have just asked Cerb and I to review or spectate or something. Anyone who has gone into one of our hydra PTs and seen the irc/slack logs should realize why.
