I missed it, thanks for pointing it out Meuh.
In post 89, marcistar wrote:i haven't actually voted them, i just threw their name there and dipped lol
the reason i threw their name out there, was partly because i felt like if we were to pressure them, we would get a good response, and hopefully make it easier for others as they join the game to get a few reads. i also felt as if they might be a bit harder for me to read as the game progresses, but like this is backed up on nothing except pure vibes.
Some people are very readable at basically every stage, some not readable at any stage, and some very readable lategame with flips. It's an unusual opinion to find someone easier to read early.

I was mostly wondering if this was backed up by any personal experience, but "vibes" suggests it'd be limited in how much to explain.

Sorry, I typed that part when it was almost my turn for something so it wasn't very polished.

I'd characterize her entrance as being "on a mission", with the quick reads, forcing herself to justify them indepth, and the determination to use them to drive content from other users. I was asking what you thought about this approach.

But then I'd also need to read a towngame of hers to actually see what she does out of the norm as scum. I've proven on multiple occasions that having played with Marci before doesn't actually end up with me making better reads on her sadly :( not sure if should try meta reading her because honestly I've always been further off doing it than without
my statement was more based on general patterns I notice than anything specific to Marci
My point was mostly that I specifically don't think so based off of the games I've spectated, but there are limits to how much I want to shove this read of mine down the throat of others, and players that grow quickly tend to render such meta obsolete.

I'm not committing to it, but I'm not terribly concerned and am fine assuming the best until proven otherwise. I don't doubt your explanation in that Tarot was a brutal table to roll scum against, but Isekai you had a very similarly slow start.

This might be an intentional switch on your end in response to very specific advice from players, but I think it's both a towntell in general and for you specifically and I'm willing to challenge people to address the approach itself beyond shutting down the reads themselves.

The best part of newer players though is that you outgrow and surprise me quickly, leaving me looking like an outdated boomer, and I would welcome that here if it is the case.

So fair warning, I'm phone posting this whole weekend so don't expect a lot of quoting and long posts going on because it's well difficult.

After reading and trying to digest a bit after a long day I've come to get some initial gutish reads.

I like merci and muah as town based on good posts that have a town feel of scum hunting in general. I have a feeling that Prism is town but am weirded out by the post in which she votes me almost like as if she needs to vote me to have me answer a question. I had gotten some scummy vibes from the questions that Greeting had initially put out like they were questions for the sake of questions without any follow up.

The rest of you I still need to sort, also for those of you who are more experienced, keep in mind the players who are actually new to Mafia in general and not overwhelm the thread in intense discussion.

Man I feel old when new terms come into play that are new to me... when did "locktown" become a thing... haha

Anyhow, I'd love to get a feel for the experience of our newer players if you'd like to intro that a bit for those of you who haven't, that would be great.
I was curious if anything came of this.
If anything came of what?

I was referring to the digestion of the first few pages. The vote was a friendly prod.

I would love something more concrete on the Marcistar and Meuh reads, which are very vague. I am especially interested in the latter.

I also fundamentally disagree on the value of intense discussion relating to the new players. Your two townreads, three counting your gutread on me, all came from such discussions. Two of the newer players have been core drivers, and the rest have not shied away.

That said, if any of the new players find something I am saying hard to follow or overwhelming in volume, I will try my best to delineate things or scale it back.

Nothing that has happened so far has really warranted anything yet though
Well that’s the thing, us discussing is how we create things we can then discuss and read each other off of. I don’t think we should start wagons until all have spoken, but there’s no reason not to throw in some smaller scale reads and create the basic playing field we need to obtain to become productive as a town
I agree it's probably objectively bad for town but as a player I typically do 1 of 2 things.

1 Form reads slowly but have confidence in them
2 Jump on someone that I think is scummy early and death tunnel them forever (ask Greeting)

More interestingly I would like to know why Greeting/Cape think my behavior is AI.
In post 70, MegAzumarill wrote:I would also reiterate I want to hear Greeting's reasons for suspecting me so far. I think it's an important point
I wouldn't say that I find you suspicious so far. As to why my vote is where it is, I'm... testing stuff. This will be pretty vague but let me just say that if I truly wanted this wagon to succeed and had definite thoughts that you were scum, I wouldn't be worrying about you reaching E-2 or E-1.
marcistar wrote: mm yeah, putting people at e-2 isnt too bad of a thing i think..? as long as we would make it obv. we could always unvote if it looks like some people are setting up for a quick hammer as well.
i agree with (i forgot who said this, but them :P), why are u so worried about numbers..? e-1 is where we should be sweating, but if u scumread someone or think somethings helpful, whats bad about putting them to e-2..?
Why am I worried about putting someone at E-2? Because we have two scums who can easily jump on a wagon and seal it. Also, I'm not having someone eliminated without proof or at least a feeling. Wagons can also be used for other purposes than actually voting someone out and that's what I want to do.
I'm really more concerned with the why you got here than the actual result itself.

If you say you're testing something you don't need to reveal quite yet but I would like the why revealed by eod
You got it.

Really the takeaway from that game set in after the game and in a Mini, where I did very little, and the takeaway as both alignments is to have meaningful content and don't lurk as either alignment.

Marci's entrance into this game definitely feels pretty townie, having an early read feels town, though, I don't feel like reads early in a mafia game are going to be particularly accurate.

I can't help but notice that... you're also on that wagon.

I assume that you're voting me out because you think I'm scum. But if I'm scum, then how exactly is my partner going to exploit this wagon?
And if you don't want to vote me out then why are you on my wagon, may I ask?

With this post you sound like someone who wants to sound like a genuine newbie, but what you said doesn't really make any sense. Unless you're doing something similar to what I'm doing with MegAzumarill's wagon.

Something
really weird
is happening with my wagon tbf. I already stated my intentions when it comes to MegAzumarill and promised that I would explain what I'm doing. It seems like in the meantime the game has drifted towards me and I don't even know how to defend myself, because I don't know why am I suddenly the leading wagon. :dead:

Oh I'm not doubting the value of them, just that they can be overwhelming to keep up with and follow as a new player.

My reads are still very surface level. I think it's mainly the level of interaction they both have in the game
