As concerns sigbets, did you see the one I made with Fro? How do you feel about it as compared to my proposed one? Would you have taken me up on it if the wording of the third condition had been "...unless you're Scum" rather than "...unless either of us is Scum"?

Fropome wrote:How about
if I flip scum you write my sig

if you flip scum I write yours
? Sig to remain for one month from end of the game. I'm in for that, say you'll deal and it's done.

That's no gamble at all. I'll take that "bet" (not really a bet because I'm already aware of how it'll turn out on my end) and you're gonna regret it, 'cause I'm
the best there's ever been
Town.

I need to think about this.

Okay, in the interests of moving forward and widening out a bit, and to make sure I don't support a mislynch in my absence.

The last few pages have given me pause to wonder about certain things. I'll post some thoughts on it as soon as it's gelled.

Archangel, I don't recall being buddies with revenus. I don't know him. I feel a sense that I may be being buddied up to here and there, however.

No. I made a post commenting on what a nice change it is to have a civil discussion. Frequently on this site, "making a case" is equated to "ATTACK. FIGHT DIRTY IF YOU HAVE TO AND BEING AN ASS IS A-OK". Civility is
wonderful

Is that opinion or knowledge?

@fffff: Honestly that readslist is striking me as incredibly Town for some reason. Reassessment is probably something that needs to happen sooner than later on my part as well.

@all Sorry I've been somewhat quiet, things have been hectic at work this week, and will continue that way until probably wednesday next week. Not V/LA or anything, but my time for posting is less than it usually is.

@fferyllt He hasn't explained, even though I asked him to (his vote on me, and the rest of his reads) way back on .

CareyHammer wrote:I know. I will try to come up with some better reads this weekend, but I will be V/LA for a while.

V/LA huh...

Seriously guys, I'm not sure if I'm just letting my irritation with Carey get the best of me but this guy is almost textbook (wikibook?) active lurking. From the wiki:

"Examples of active lurking include posts made only of taunts, excuses for not posting, incoherent gibberish that will lead people to suspect that you do not have the Internet savvy to play Mafia, general bland agreement with whatever is going on, and so forth."

posts made only of taunts

CareyHammer wrote:You're the turd, you turdface

excuses for not posting (I just picked the best one, there's a couple of others laying around)

CareyHammer wrote:'ve posted no content because I've been spending my time in San Francisco partying all week. I dont appreciate you counting the hours since my last posts. What have I been doing for 7.5 hours? I've been living real life. You should try it sometime. It's just a game and we have weeks before deadline. Don't be totally shocked by my inattention to you. You sound like a whining little child. Give me some time to actually read the thread and you will have some content from me. I'm also trying to mod Risk, Craps, and Blackjack, and play a few games of chess all simultaneously so forgive me if i can't be posting here 24/7.

incoherent gibberish that will lead people to suspect that you do not have the Internet savvy to play Mafia

CareyHammer wrote:So, my terrible play with my meta indicates town. There you go.

Seriously, nothing would make me happier than him posting some reasoning behind his actions/reads.

fferyllt wrote:Revenus scares me. He's posting stuff I agree with for the most part but not enough and not often enough.

Mac is bugging me. I'm cautious because I have a tendency to either trust or strongly distrust people who go after me. More likely to trust someone who does it first or does it originally. Second and sloppy seconds not so much. I'm awaiting his response to an earlier post I made. Right now, I'm cautiously leaning scum.

ArcAngel - she came into a slot that I was starting to get a scum vibe from. I've read a couple of her scum games to see if the relatively large amounts of stuff that is not applicable to this game or its current landscape is a feature of her scum games. I'd say that the quantity is not typical. But, a quick ISO of a couple town games do appear to be more short, sharp and to the point. The whole argument about the likelihood of one SE/IC player being scum and the other being in a n00b slot feels like distraction and maybe misdirection. Right now, I'm leaning scum.

Rev is V/LA until tomorrow iirc. Mac and ArcAngel haven't posted in a couple of days though.

I know Revenus is on V/LA. My observation is based on how I was feeling about him at the time he made the v/la post.

I know it's just day 1 and not that much to go on but I'd be more comfortable if you started putting a bit more reason than hunches on your arguments.

You're totally right, but look at his meta. He has recently played exactly the same as town and scum. That is, barely played at all. I see near the beginning of his career here he actually took some time to make some decent arguments, but there was some point he snapped. Lynching him would be as likely to lynch scum as lynching someone at random. The only benefit we would have of lynching him would be to not lynch someone that is actively contributing to the game. At one point that was the best idea I had, and I'm certainly willing to go back there now that my mind is rather muddled as to what all the first week has really meant, but there's no reason to push a lynch on him out the door yet.

I don't have a much clearer picture of anything after a full read through of everything. I'm basically back to where I was previous to my "revelation" that it must have been a setup (in reality I just hadn't read close enough), but with a bit of a different picture of GM. There's something about her play that makes me question what she's really up to, especially her confirmation that she knows more than we do. It's hard for me to tell whether that's experience speaking, or whether it's actual game knowledge. It seems foolish for anyone with extra information about the setup to give away the fact they have such information, and due to her being IC I guess I have to attribute it to her confidence of her reads. If there's one thing I'm not, it's confident. About anything at all in life, really. I haven't lived this long as Town ever before (my only results have been survived as scum and lynched day 1 as town in games with much shorter deadlines), so this is my first time ever really having to look back and reflect on what's been said from an ignorant perspective. And boy does it look cloudy.

--

I'm very suspicious of how ArcAngel has disappeared from this game (but not from the site) after making a bunch of nonsense arguments that disregarded basic probability. That slot has said some very enigmatic things, but I'd put them all to being differences of playstyle so far. After some consideration, I think it's more than just her being terrible town. I think she really is that ignorant to think that she could mislead a Newbie game into thinking something about the setup by stating it adamantly enough. Right now it's a stronger feeling than anything else I have going on.

My problem is that I really have not grasped the concept of how to scumhunt. My scumdar is terrible. Typically, I just kind of sheep someone who I trust and jump on some bandwagon at L-3. Thats my playstyle. So, someone buddy me and I will sheep you. This is me posting while ignoring my girlfriend, I'll try to post real reads sunday night.

I'm not sure. Honestly she's incredibly hard to read unless you've played her before (I've done so two, three times?) but her meta is usually blatantly obvious. Depending on what she says next, she (the slot) may end up (back) in my scumpool.
For her posts so far, none of them have really been that indicative to me either way, which in itself is vaguely scummy for her. (That probably doesn't make sense in words but is very clear in my head).

Then townhunt, and find Scum by PoE.

That kinda makes sense based on my readings from some of her games.

Deras is looking towniest to me. So townie it's actually starting to freak me out a little bit, remembering how in my previous newbie game (I was scum) players seriously underestimated me and figured I had to be naive, earnest low-experience town or something.

Scummiest is a dead heat at the moment between Mac and ArcAngel. Both of them need to post more.

Just want to highlight again that ArcAngel in her post with her reads referred to all the new players in the third person, and all the SE/IC players as "you". With one exception: Eye.
